Bahia
A tough, low-input grass for big areas: roadsides, large lots and retention areas. Sand-grown, 400 sq ft per pallet.
Bahia’s deep root system makes it one of the most drought-tolerant lawn grasses grown in Florida, and it does well in sandy, low-fertility soil. It has a coarser, more open look than St. Augustine or Zoysia.
That makes it a practical choice where coverage and low upkeep matter more than looks: road shoulders, large lots, and the banks of retention areas and swales. It needs full sun and thins out in shade.
Typical contractor uses
- Road shoulders and right-of-way
- Retention areas, swales and ditch banks
- Large lots and low-maintenance areas
