St. Augustine Floratam
A full-sun St. Augustine for lawns and new construction across Southwest Florida. Sand-grown at 400 sq ft per pallet, or muck-grown at 500.
Floratam is a St. Augustine variety with wide, coarse blades and a blue-green color. It spreads by above-ground runners and fills in quickly, and it’s widely used for residential lawns and new construction across Florida.
It wants full sun and doesn’t hold up to heavy foot traffic. For shaded lots, play areas or dog runs, look at Zoysia or artificial turf instead.
Typical contractor uses
- New-construction lawns
- Residential re-sods
- Full-sun common areas
Sand-grown or muck-grown
Grown in sandy soil, like the rest of the varieties we sell.
Cut from lighter black-dirt soil on the east side of the state. The lighter soil is why a pallet covers more ground.
Pick sand or muck for each line on the Order Desk, and the pallet count adjusts.
